Planet Mouse series
Planet Mouse is a series of books about ‘Mouse’, a 12-year-old boy from Durban.
Mouse faces challenges and dilemmas familiar to children around the world – such as peer pressure, crime in his neighbourhood, betrayal and unfairness. Mouse isn’t a typical hero – he is more interested in saving goals and gazing at stars than saving the world or being a star. But when trouble finds him, he finds the courage to make difficult and sometimes dangerous decisions.
When My Dad Comes Home
Mouse’s father is unemployed. When he gets a temporary job away from home, Mouse feels happy and sad. When his Mom gets sick, Mouse thinks that perhaps she is hiding something from him. He worries that maybe his dad will never come back…
My Sister is Missing
My Sister is Missing is on the Department of Basic Education English first additional language list of novels for grade 7.
When Mouse’s little sister, Cassie, disappears from outside their house, Mouse is confused, frightened and angry. He and his best friend, Pops, join the desperate search for Cassie. They soon find themselves drawn into the world of gangs and drug-lords.
Looking for Clues
Mouse gets a shock when his older brother, Clinton, is arrested for obstructing the course of justice. Mouse suspects the policeman who made the arrest may be the real criminal. He gets on his trail and makes some alarming discoveries.
Accidents Happen
Mouse and Pops run out of things to do at the beach and go off in search of adventure. They meet a group of boys having fun jumping off a bridge. Mouse isn’t sure whether to jump. When he does take the plunge, he stares death in the face – but he also learns lessons for life.
Seeing Stars
Mouse’s interest in astronomy irritates his best friend, Pops. It also gets him into trouble at home. That all changes when Mouse uses his star-gazing skills to get his mates out of danger and then wins a prize that makes even Pops excited.
